Specialist Periodontist

Dr. Rajan Nansi is a leading GDC-registered Specialist in Periodontics with a practice rooted in clinical excellence, evidence-based care, and multidisciplinary collaboration. He graduated as a Dentist with honours from the world-renowned Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Dental Institute (King’s College London), and later returned to Guy’s Hospital to complete his four-year Specialist Training in Periodontology, also at King’s College London, earning a Master of Clinical Dentistry (MClinDent) and Membership in Periodontics (MPerio) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He also holds an Honorary Lectureship at the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

In 2022, Rajan served as President of the British Society of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry (BSP). He has also served on main BSP Council over several years, held position on the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) Scientific Affairs Committee, and continues to be the East Midlands Representative for the BSP. As inaugural Chair of the BSP Early Career Group (2014), he helped lay the foundations for a group that continues to thrive within the Society. Rajan was elected to the BSP Faculty in 2022. This Faculty is an expert group of educators and speakers a mark of professional esteem within the UK periodontal community.

Rajan provides the full spectrum of periodontal care, with a strong emphasis on personalised planning, prevention, and long-term stability. He is committed to delivering care aligned with the latest clinical guidelines from non-surgical therapy to more complex periodontal management. His approach reflects the belief that excellent outcomes depend on thoughtful planning, appropriate sequencing, and high-quality execution at every stage of treatment.

He also undertakes a wide range of periodontal surgical procedures, including pocket reduction, regenerative surgery, including use of biomaterials and bone grafting. Having trained to an advanced level in this field, he takes pride in delivering predictable results and works closely with patients to ensure surgical intervention is carefully timed and clinically appropriate.

Rajan is highly experienced in aesthetic and functional crown lengthening, working closely with restorative colleagues to enhance smile aesthetics or create restorative space in cases where teeth are severely broken down but potentially salvageable.

He has developed a recognised focus in periodontal plastic surgery, routinely performing mucogingival techniques, free gingival grafts, and connective tissue grafting to address recession, improve soft tissue volume, and achieve functional and aesthetic harmony. As a Key Opinion Leader collaborating with the dental industry internationally, Rajan brings extensive insight into case selection, equipment and outcome predictability.

While his core focus is on the management and stabilisation of periodontitis and peri-implant disease, Rajan also provides dental implant treatment to his periodontal patients. He offers careful guidance on when implant therapy should be considered, particularly where teeth are missing or severely compromised, and ensures treatment is sequenced in a way that prioritises periodontal health and long-term stability.

He is known for his calm, thorough, and ethical approach to care. Rajan believes in open communication, clear options, and guiding patients toward informed decisions. His work with referring dental professionals is built on trust and a shared goal of improving patient outcomes.

In recognition of his contributions to dentistry, Rajan was elected a Fellow of the College of General Dentistry (FCGDent) in 2023 one of the highest professional accolades within UK dentistry, awarded for clinical excellence, leadership, and service to the profession.

A respected national and international speaker, Rajan is regularly invited to lecture on topics ranging from prevention to periodontal treatment planning and non-surgical treatment to advanced regenerative and microsurgical mucogingival surgical techniques. He is passionate about supporting and educating the next generation of dentists, specialists, dental hygienists and therapists, and remains actively involved in postgraduate education and skills development. Through his teaching, speaking, and high-quality clinical work, he continues to help raise the standard of periodontal care across the UK.
