Carisbrooke invites you to a relaxed, interactive and educational day with our experts in the topics of periodontics, endodontics, orthodontics and occlusion on Saturday 23rd November 2019 – 9:30am to 4:30pm
Aims & Objectives:
- Improve your treatment planning skills by identifying the mainfactors to look at in difficult dental scenarios.
- A better understanding of the implications when giving treatment options or choosing no treatment, enabling patients to make the right decision in the context of the usual dental dilemmas.

About our speakers
Dr Jose Zurdo
José graduated in Medicine and Surgery (Bilbao) in 1983 and completed his medical speciality in Estomatology including Dentistry (Barcelona) in 1986. José completed an MSc in Implantology (Paris) in 1995 and a 1-year preceptorship program in Periodontology (Houston) in 1998. José moved to Sweden in 1999, completing a 3-years full-time MSc program at the University of Gothenburg,and the recognition as Specialist in Periodontology in Sweden and the UK. Since 2002 he has been a very active clinician and educator in the UK. He has been the leading Periodontist at Carisbrooke Specialist Dental Centre, he was activelyinvolved in the development of the MSc in Clinical Periodontology at UCLan in 2007 and since then he has been lecturing and mentoring in the fields of perioand implants.
Dr Manish Thakrar
Manish is originally from London and graduated from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Dental Institute in 2005. Following graduation Manish has spent timeworking in oral surgery, community dentistry and general dental practice. During this time he developed a passion for Endodontics and in 2011 he enrolled on the four-year specialist-training pathway in Endodontics at theEastman Dental Institute. Manish successfully completed his Masters degreein 2015. He has limited his practice to Endodontics since 2011, and completed his specialist examinations in 2016.
Dr Neil Millington
Neil trained at the then opened state of the art Leeds University Dental Hospital, qualifying in December 1981. During his training he won theprize for Clinical Dental Practice and also a certificate of Merit in Prosthetic Dentistry. Neil spent the next sixteen years as a dental officer in the RoyalAir Force. During this time he continued to study for further post-graduatequalifications obtaining his MGDS from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1990. He also has an MSC with distinction in Prosthetic dentistry. Neil was then able to set up and establish the RAF dental implant programme providing implant treatment for members of the Army, Navy and RoyalAir Force. Neil joined Carisbrooke Specialist Dental Centre in 1998. He is interested in problems that patients may have experienced with previously provided implant treatment. Neil is also interested in providing advancedcrown and bridgework for patients with complex, difficult problems and broken down dentitions. Much of his time is spent providing treatmentfor patients that have been referred from their own dentist to receive his specialist care, after which they return to their dentist for routine care
Dr Chris Dakin
Chris is originally from Sheffield and qualified from the University of Birmingham School of Dentistry in 2002. He gained his MFGDP(UK) in 2005. He has spent the majority of his career as an associate in general dental practice in the Midlands, and has interests in restorative and aesthetic dentistry, occlusion and TMD. Amongst numerous postgraduate courses undertaken, he has completed the core and advanced curricula of the Dawson Academy, which focuses on comprehensive, predictable, aesthetic and functional dentistry. He is a teaching assistant for the Dawson Academy UK, and also held a part-time clinical lecturer position with the University of Birmingham School of Dentistry for seven years. He has lectured regionally and nationally on occlusion in restorative dentistry, and has worked at Carisbrooke Specialist Dental Centre since 2013.
